Eagle View's Tips for Immediate Tooth Pain Relief
When it comes to tooth pain, Eagle View Community Health System is here to provide expert guidance in alleviating discomfort. In the event of a dental emergency, it is crucial to seek the assistance of our dental professionals promptly. Our goal at Eagle View is to minimize pain while ensuring you receive the necessary care.
Immediate Tooth Pain Relief Strategies:
Teeth can experience pain for various reasons, ranging from sensitivity after whitening to more serious dental emergencies. If you encounter situations such as a chipped tooth, a lost tooth, or a dislodged filling, the pain can be intense. While contacting your Eagle View Provider should be a priority, we understand that the pain may be overwhelming.
Below are recommendations from Eagle View's dental professionals on managing pain during a dental emergency:
Utilize over-the-counter pain relievers to significantly reduce pain and alleviate swelling.
1.
Take an Over-the-Counter Pain Reliever:
Swish the Mouth with Warm Salt Water:
2.
3.
Apply Oils for Pain Relief:
Reduce swelling and eliminate bacteria by swishing the mouth with warm salt water. Though it may cause some discomfort, it prevents harmful bacteria from infecting any open wounds.
Certain oils, such as sunflower oil, sesame oil, tea tree oil, clove oil, nutmeg oil, and oregano oil, possess natural pain-relieving properties. Apply them to the painful area using a clean cotton swab.
Eagle View recommends using extracts like vanilla, almond, peppermint, and lemon for temporary pain relief.
Ease pain and reduce swelling by using an ice pack. Place the ice in a washcloth and gently hold it against the painful area for 10 minutes, followed by a few minutes of removal to prevent skin damage.
6.
Keep the Head Elevated:
Elevating the head is advisable, as it helps reduce blood flow to the painful area.
If you are experiencing unbearable tooth pain:
If your teeth hurt due to a fall, blow to the mouth, or car accident, seek evaluation from a dentist promptly. Even if there is no immediate pain, addressing issues such as chipped, cracked, or missing teeth is essential to prevent potential infections.
Contact Eagle View to schedule an appointment with our dental providers whenever you experience excessive tooth pain or damage. Our dedicated team is ready to provide you with the professional care you need, when you need it.
